Mary Newman Cecil

Mrs. Mary Louise Newman Cecil, 95, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Forsyth Co. on April 15, 1921 the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Newman and Maxie Ayers Newman. Mrs. Cecil was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God in King and was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 33 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Samuel Cecil, Sr., her son, Luther Samuel Cecil, Jr. and two sisters, Hazel Blackburn and Juanita Ward She is survived by a daughter, Glenda LaPrade (James) , two sons, Tony Cecil (Margaret) and Steve Cecil, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters, Virginia Carter, Frances Booth and Frances Mackey, a brother, B.F. Newman and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Harvest Temple Church of God in King with Pastor Robbie Sizemore and Pastor Dan Salmons officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:30 prior to the service at the church.
