Mary Catherine Hauser Pitts, 104, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023. She was born in Clemmons, NC on October 27, 1919, to Opie Hawkins Hauser and Pearl Long Hauser. She was the second of three girls and two boys. She was raised in the Union Hill Baptist Church, and she also went to Clemmons School and graduated from there. Mary married Alfred Agnew Pitts in 1938, then became a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church. Mary joined Susanna Wesley Sunday School class where they sponsored many children over the years. She worked for Western Electric for over thirty years, she had many friends there and retired as an inspector. While working for Western Electric, she was part of a travel club and was able to travel to all 50 states, and several countries where she met many wonderful people. Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Agnew Pitts; sister, Ethel Hart; brothers, Jim Hauser and Bud Hauser. She is survived by her sons, James Larry Pitts (Ann) and Charles Pitts (Shirley); grandchildren, Donna Pitts, Sharon Burris and Laura Wilmoth (Terry); great-grandchildren, Matthew Burris (Sarah), John Luke Burris (Emma) Steven Burris, Cameron Wilmoth and Ashley Wilmoth; sister, Jean Landers and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2PM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Mahathey officiating.
