Mary Ann Thomas Carter

Mrs. Mary Ann Thomas Carter, of Advance, passed away at her home on Friday, February 27, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Mary was born in Oakvale, West Virginia on April 22, 1944, the daughter of Gladys Viola and Ozle Beacher Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers, a sister, and one son, Kenneth Dale Carter. Mary is survived by her husband of 54 years, Douglas Rex Carter;, a son Rex Alan Carter Sr. and his wife Kellie and two grandsons A.J. and Kendal Carter all of Advance. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Thomas of Winston-Salem, and a brother Roger Thomas and his wife Karen of Yadkinville. Mary was a devoted wife and mother and she cared deeply for her extended family. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her two grandsons. A funeral service will be held 3:00pm Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Green Meadows Baptist Church in Mocksville with the Rev. M. Ray Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
