Walnut Cove - Mary Alice Kirby Campbell, 69, passed away November 28, 2015 after a courageous battle with metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
Mary Alice was the youngest daughter of the late Samuel and Jennie Austin Kirby. She grew up in the Grace Chapel community of Granite Falls, NC graduated from Granite Falls High School and Winston Salem Business College where she earned an accounting degree.
She was a Certified Local Governmental Purchasing Officer and retired at the end of 2008 from the City of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Purchasing Department after 40 years of service.
Mary Alice was an active member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church and served on many council and committees. Many thanks to the church family and to her Adult Fellowship Class member for their prayers, love and support. Thanks also to the many other friends everywhere for each prayer and expressions of concern during her cancer journey. Your support was an expression of God's love and helped her triumphantly through this journey.
She is survived by her husband and wonderful caregiver, Eddie; son, Scott and wife Leslie and her two adorable grandchildren, Sawyer and Sydney; her loving sister Sarah Kirby Craig (Dale) of Vale, NC and sister Brenda Kirby Swink (Bill) of Granite Falls, NC ; Brother-in-law, Brian Campbell (Sue), two nieces and four nephews,
Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:45 AM Wednesday December 2, 2015 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Walkertown, NC with Pastor Dan Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church from 5:45 - 7:45 Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, Mary Alice requested at donor's choice, that memorials be made to Cancer Services, 3175 Maplewood Avenue, Winston Salem, NC 27109, or to Morris Chapel UMC, Inc. P.O. Box 57 Walkertown, NC 27051, c/o Capital Improvements, or also, Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27101.
