Mary Ruth Perrell Binkley

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Mary Ruth Perrell Binkley Oct. 19, 1924 - April 29, 2012 Mary Ruth Binkley of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Binkley was born October 19, 1924 to Seaton Alexander and Joanna Redmon Perrell of Baux Mountain, NC. From her birth family, sisters Elsie Mendenhall, Irma Moran, and Edna Frye, and brother Jackie Darwin Perrell, and an infant brother precede her in death. Mrs. Binkley is survived by her husband of 66 years Frank Binkley; son Tim Binkley, his wife Karin Monokian Binkley, their children Erin Binkley, Zachary Binkley and his wife Sally Binkley, and grandchildren Parker Ruth Binkley and Palmer Frank Binkley; daughter Patricia Holcomb, her husband Frank Holcomb and their children Travis, Adam, and Lindsay Holcomb, and; daughter Jan McGuire, her husband B. B. McGuire and their children Mary, Sarah McGuire and Will McGuire. She leaves beloved sister Billie Jane Tise, nieces Pamela Billing, Brenda Carter, Becky Tise, Rhonda Durham, Susan Fleming, Kay Fulp, Lisa Perrell, Gail Watson and their families, and nephews Hal and Kent Mendenhall, and Kevin and Michael Perrell and their families. Mrs. Binkley's curiosity and zest for life led her on a journey of learning and teaching. Her strong but practical faith was clearly visible in the quality of the relationships she maintained with others. Mrs. Binkley was a lifelong student of health and healing, and practiced Yoga and reflexology. She assisted young people in learning to read, sponsored church youth in confirmation, and embraced others for who they were. She was a dedicated gardener, loved large family gatherings, creating delicious meals, and singing and dancing. A service celebrating Mrs. Binkley's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Wiseman officiating, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family is grateful to the many wonderful neighbors, friends and the church family at Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church whose loving hearts enriched Mrs. Binkley's life and passage.
