Mary Catherine Benfield

Mrs. Mary Catherine Benfield, 80, of Clemmons died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Grace Healthcare of Winston-Salem. She was born February 23, 1929 in Catawba, the daughter of the late Ernest and Susan Hefner. Mrs. Benfield was a member of First Assembly of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Edward Benfield. Survivors include one son, Rickman Doyle Benfield and wife, Tameryn of Winston-Salem; three daughters, Donna Simmons of Clemmons and Ginger Bunker and Robin Benfield and partner Leigh Caviness of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Shannon Lucas, Allison Norman, Tonya Vaughn, Michael Benfield, Gabriel Benfield and Alexander Benfield; five great grandchildren; one brother, Eulan Hefner and wife Josephine of Claremont; special friends Glenna Oney and Robin Willard and a special niece Debbie Grigg. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church in Statesville with The Rev. Dr. Ray Benfield officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
