Mary Louise Hardman Barker

Mrs. Mary Louise Hardman Barker, 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011. She was born April 19, 1932 in Adams County, Pennsylvania to Mary Bishop and Arthur Fredrick Hardman. Mrs. Barker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a dedicated Christian. She taught Sunday school and was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed helping others and bringing happiness into their lives. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Buel Barker, Sr.; a daughter, Michelle Smith; a sister, Charlotte Kepner. Surviving to cherish her memory is her son, Buel Barker (Vickie) of Winston-Salem; son-in-law, Richard Smith; four grandchildren, Ben (Crystal) Barker, Allen (Elizabeth) Barker, Victoria Leigh Barker, Kelly Barker; God daughter, Samantha Murchison; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Logan, and Elijah; three sisters, Carol Staub, Janet Cool, and Joyce Grinder; a brother, Robert Hardman. A funeral service will held 1:00PM Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Hochmuth, Mr. John Fender and Rev. Ken Eller officiating. A private family graveside service will follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Mary Barker Fund, 4265 Ebert Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
