Mary Ann Sizemore Coleman

Mary Ann Sizemore Coleman, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mary was born on December 23, 1941, to the late Floyd and Mittie Sizemore. She spoke fondly of her childhood growing up as a “country girl” in Surry Co. Mary married her husband Donald Edward Coleman at a young age. She began working for Arista Mills, where she and her husband began raising their family in a mill house community. Mary continued her career with Western Electric where she was employed as an assembly line worker, retiring after many years of service.

Mary was an exceptional gardener and enjoyed planting flowers and working in her yard. Family was the most important part of Mary’s life, and she enjoyed spending time together at family gatherings. She also loved family vacations, especially to the mountains and the beach. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two daughters, Brenda Boyd and Annette Kirkland; and brother, Grover Sizemore.

Surviving family includes two daughters, Debra Sizemore and Susan Nestor (Alex); son-in-law, Randy Boyd; ten grandchildren, Robert Gifford, Leslie Boyd, Melissa Gifford, William Sizemore, Kristy Schewe, Christopher Daniels, Jessica Kirkland, Nicholas Nestor, Jordan Nestor and Tyler Nestor; and four great-grandchildren, Amiyah Boyd, Brandon Jeremiah Miller, Nora Schewe and Benjamin Daniels.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Don Martin officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends the night prior on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
