Mary Pfaff Allen

Mary Pfaff Allen, 66, of Reidsville died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on August 17, 1942 in Florence, SC to Mary and Agnew Pfaff. Mary graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1960 and Dental Hygiene School at UNC-Chapel Hill. She worked over 35 years for Dr. Walter Moore and Dr. Robert Wheless. She loved her co-workers and patients. She often said how much she missed all of them. Mary was preceded in death by her parents whom she dearly loved, along with her beloved Betsy. Surviving are two sons, Blanton Allen of Raleigh and Jim Allen of Wrightsville Beach; a daughter, Sally Cahoy and husband Dan of Raleigh; a sister, Shirley Pfaff of Winston-Salem; two aunts, Shirley Davis and Mary Anne Corderman and husband Roy; and a special friend, Shirley Graves. Mary had so many wonderful and caring friends whom she cherished. A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services, 3175 Maplewood Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; or Woodmont United Methodist Church in Reidsville, NC. Mary's family would like to thank Dr. William Brown and all of the staff in the Neuro ICU and the Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center. All of their competent and compassionate care towards Mary and her family was overwhelming.
