Marvin Guthery Watts

Mr. Marvin Guthery Watts, 99, of King, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on July 15, 1915 in Stokes County to James Harris Watts and Polly Emma Tuttle Watts. He was self-employed as a carpenter and contractor. Mr. Watts was the oldest member of Poplar Springs Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Butner Watts; two sons, Franklin and Jerry Watts; five brothers, and five sisters. He is survived by two daughters; Barbara A. Watts Vanhoy (J.B.) and Bonnie M. Watts Joyce (Phillip); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Poplar Springs Church of Christ with Don Wallace, Minister and Ralph Sproles, Minister officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Church of Christ, 7120 NC Hwy 66, King, NC 27021.
