KERNERSVILLE - Mr. M. Linwood Norris, Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Linwood was born on January 30, 1930 in Harnett County to the late Isaac William and Velma Holt Norris. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean conflict, retired from McLean Trucking after 33 years and was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church. Linwood graciously volunteered for Meals on Wheels for over 17 years. In addition to his parents, Linwood was preceded in death by a son, Lenny Norris; six brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife, Margie M. Norris of Kernersville; one son, Richard Norris (wife, Taina) of Winston-Salem; daughter-in-law, Donna Norris of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Michael, Sam and Cameron Norris; one great grandchild, Marilyn Norris; two sisters, Verona Altman of Kernersville and Peggy Cawthon of West Virginia; one brother, Johnny Norris (wife Laura) of Newport and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Waughtown Baptist Church with Rev. Joe McWethy, Rev. Eddie Brackett and Rev. Richard Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Wednesday night at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family would like to extend special thanks to their extended family Rebecca Gentry, Ruth Smith and Bobbi Nichols, as well as the staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their loving care.
