WINSTON-SALEM- Marvin Maynard âSunnyboy' Hammock, 76, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at his home. Marvin was born May 2, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Elmer and Beatrice Disher Hammock. Maynard retired from R J Reynolds Tobacco Company with 32 years of service. He was a member of the Winston-Salem Rescue Squad, a Ham Operator (handle âK1USA'), a member of the Camel Caravan Trailer Club, a member of the Piedmont Unit and also a lifelong member of WBCCI. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Betty - spending the winter months in Florida and the summer months in the mountains and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. In addition to his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by a sister, Geniva H. Biby and a brother, Clarence Hammock (Mildred). Surviving are his wife, Betty Branch Hammock, of the home; two daughters, Sonia Gaye Hammock Coalson, of Walkertown and Vicky Diane Crouch (Randy) of Des-arc, AK; two grandsons, Nicholas Crouch (Bridget), of Jonesboro, AK and Joseph Ryan Coalson, of Walkertown; and one sister, Dura H. Davis, of Raleigh. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with the Rev. Tommy Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
