Marty Laray Young

Mrs. Marty Laray Young, 62, went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, June 13, 2022. Marty was born in Forsyth County, North Carolina on December 27, 1959, the daughter of the late Claude “C.W.” Pittman and Hettie Marie Pitman. Marty was educated at Mineral Springs School and graduated from North Forsyth High School. In her younger days, she worked at Kmart Stores. She was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church for twenty five years. Marty loved her family and had a love for her animals. She was a dedicated loving wife and loving mother of her two sons. Her sons loved her so much and will miss her until they meet her again. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty two years, William Grant Young and two brothers-in-law, Bill Summey and H.C. “Red” Jackson. Marty is survived by two sons, Zachary “Zac” Young and Matthew “Matt” Young; two sisters, Darlene Cantrell and husband Garry of Winston-Salem and Vicki Summey Jackson of Lewisville and friend, Charles “Slick” Poteat of Lewisville; one brother, Wayne Pittman of Winston-Salem and friend Tamara of Winston-Salem. Marty is also survived by her Aunt Becky, her nieces, nephews, cousins and her furry friends, Buddy, Sweetie and three cats. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Pine Hall, NC with Pastor Tim Gentry, Sr. and Pastor John Pittman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 Friday, June 17, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
