Martha Williams

Martha Howell Williams, 88, passed swiftly and peacefully into the gates of heaven in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve. Affectionately known by her family as "Boots" she was born and raised in Davie County NC among 10 siblings born to Robert Lanier and Clyde Veane Howell. She is preceded in death by her parents, 9 siblings and cherished husband of 49 years (Ernest Williams). She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her youngest brother Thurmon Howell, son David (Pam), daughter Kathy Alexander (Lewey), 4 grandchildren Derrick & Matthew Williams, Amanda Alexander Smith (Matt), Christopher Alexander (Karla), 7 great-grandchildren & several nieces and nephews. Martha retired from Hanes Hosiery after a career lasting 32 years, and remained a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church, Clemmons NC. Once a grandmother, Martha became known as "Nan" and her family will forever reflect upon her in this way. Fulfilling her lifelong wish, Nan will be laid to rest by her husband's side at a graveside service Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 1:00pm in Forsyth Memorial Park.
