Mrs. Martha Lou Cole Thomasson, 83, of Clemmons, NC died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Clemmons Village II. She was born August 6, 1927 in Buncombe County, NC, the daughter of the late, Houston and Macie Cole. Mrs. Thomasson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught the Christian Way of Life Class and ESL. She sang in the Senior Adult VIP Choir and traveled to Brazil and Russia on mission trips. She volunteered with Child Evangelism Fellowship. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Draughn Business College and was secretary at Southwest Elementary School, retiring following 25 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Harris Thomasson, a son, Paul Robert Thomasson and a grandson, Stephen Christopher Thomasson. Survivors include two sons, Rev. David Cole Thomasson and wife, Charlyn of Orange Park, FL and John Stephen Thomasson and wife, Sherri of Clemmons, NC; four grandchildren, Joshua Thomasson and wife, Anna of Jacksonville, FL, Andrew Thomasson of Raleigh, NC, Heather Sheppard and husband, Christopher of Winston-Salem, NC and Joseph Thomasson of Raleigh, NC one great grandchild, Eva Noelle Thomasson of Jacksonville, FL; one twin sister, Mary Sue Buckner of Candler, NC; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Pattie Thomasson of Winston-Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
