Martha Teague Ridings

Mrs. Martha Louise Teague Ridings, 95, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away December 1, 2023. She was born August 24, 1928 in Forsyth County to Hobert and Bessie Newsome Teague. Martha was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church since the mid-1950's where she also assisted in teaching the Kindergarten Class for many years. In her spare time she loved spending time tending to her yard and watching her flowers grow. Martha was known to her nieces and nephews as Aunt "Mott," as well as to the numerous other children she loved so much while babysitting them in her home over the years for working parents.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Johnny A. Ridings, two sisters, one brother, two nephews, and several in-laws. Surviving are her children: Ricky Ridings (Theresa), Mike Ridings (Janet), Robin Tesh (David); two grandchildren, Brice Ridings (Sierra), Brooke Wright (Zach), and three great-grandchildren (Lincoln, Emilia, and Bridger). Martha's whole adult life was dedicated to her husband and being a loving mother to her three children and extended family. She loved sharing the word and story of Jesus, and for many years made and gave to anyone who would receive it, acquaintance or stranger, a small homemade cross to have for a keepsake. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at New Philadelphia Moravian Church, with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in the church graveyard.
