My dear wife Martha, let go of my hand on January 26, 2015 and took the hand of our Lord Jesus in heaven, entering a land of no more pain and suffering. Martha was one of those God was speaking of when he said ""Blessed are the peacemakers.""
Martha and I (J.C. Redmon) were married for 59 wonderful years. She was a devoted wife and mother of our 3 children, Keith Redmon (Kendra) of Morehead City N.C., Joey Redmon (Stephanie) and Angela Crawford (Dean), both of Kernersville, N.C.
She was a wonderful grandmother to our 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Redmon, (Katie) Christopher Redmon, (Tricia), Katherine Trotter, (Brian) and Chad Redmon (Crystal Fagg.) All of the grandchildren had a special dish that ""Maw Maw"" would serve them when they would come to visit. We were also blessed with 11 precious great grandchildren whom we love and adore.
Martha was born to Fred and Pauline Prince on July 28, 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.
Martha's biggest enjoyment was cooking large meals while surrounded by her family. Before Martha's retirement, she was employed at Hanes Hosiery and Crown Drugs. She ended her career at Gospel Light Christian School where she taught 4K and assisted with other administrative duties. Prior to Martha's declining health, we enjoyed our retirement together by seeing God's creations and our many trips to Atlantic Beach, N.C. The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to the Gospel Light Baptist Church family where Martha was a faithful member for 57 years, and a special thanks to Martha's sisters in Christ, (too many to name) for all the prayers, food and assistance to the family during this difficult time.
Martha's celebration of life will be held at the Gospel Light Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015. Pastor Bobby Roberson and Rev Frank Shumate will be officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Martha's name to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Center, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
