Martha W. Parent

Mrs. Martha Whitney Parent passed away April 12, 2015 at her home. She was born on December 25, 1962 in Forsyth County to the late Robert Whitney and JoAnn Cooke Whitney. Martha was past president of the PTA and a Booster member at Reagan High School. She worked at the Winston-Salem Journal for 20 years, before starting her own business in Real Estate. Martha was a friend to all and would help anyone in need. She was a woman that had the utmost integrity. Martha was a loving mother and very proud of helping her son, Austin, be accepted into UNC. She lovingly worked with her daughter, Haley, to help her embrace life. She was a devoted wife known as the string to Bob's balloon providing the foundation of their life together. Martha is survived by her husband Bob Parent; two children Austin and Haley; a brother Jeff Whitney (Twila); and a very special dog Pepper. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday April, 16, 2015, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Rev. Dr. David A. Marcus, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville. Memorials may be made to the AARF, 311 Harvey Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
