Martha Kathleen Merritt Miller

Mrs. Martha Kathleen Merritt Miller, 85, formerly of 3755 Piney Mountain Road, Walnut Cove, NC, passed away Friday, September 12, 2008 at Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King. She was born May 12, 1923 in Forsyth County to the late Ralph Jackson and Elsie Sullivan Merritt. Mrs. Miller was a lifelong member of Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church where she played the organ for many years. She enjoyed music and fishing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Hassell Eugene Miller; and a brother, Louis Merritt. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Jackson (Dennis) of Winston-Salem and Deborah Morton (Scott) of Walnut Cove; two grandchildren, Scott Vogler (Nikki) of Pfafftown and Crystal Cabrera (Edgar) of Rural Hall; three great-grandchildren, Selena and Autumn Cabrera, and Kate Vogler. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Monday, September 15 at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Johnson and Pastor Tony Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday evening, September 14 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall and also after the service in the fellowship hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Priddy Manor, 1294 Priddy Rd. King, NC 27021 or Hospice of Stokes County, PO Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to all the staff of the Special Care Unit at Priddy Manor for the love and kindness shown to Kathleen.
