Kernersville - Mrs. Martha Elizabeth McGee, 92, passed away July 21, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center. She was born February 3, 1916 in Forsyth County to the late Henry Jasper and Elizabeth Adams Cook. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Kernersville. Mrs. McGee retired from Hanes Knitwear after 33 years of service. After retiring, she operated a child care facility from her home. Mrs. McGee was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin McGee; four brothers, John, Tom, Leo, and Richard Cook, and three sisters, Lillian Riggs, Mary Tuttle, and Leslie Pulliam. Surviving are two sisters, Doris Webster of Kernersville, and Annie Fulton of Satellite Beach, FL; a son Henry L. McGee and fiancé© Susan Vaughn of High Point; and two daughters, Pamela Lassiter and husband Clyde of Walnut Cove, Patsy Flynt and Larry of Kernersville, six grandchildren, Holli, Matthew, Justin, Jeremy, Hank, and Sean, seven great grandchildren,Nathan, Zachary, Haley, Jackson, Samuel, Helen, and Ethan. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home Chapel in Kernersville with Pastor Mike Willard and Rev. Wilson Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
