Martha Ann Spaugh Isley

Winston-Salem-Martha Ann Spaugh Isley, 76, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 3, 1938, in Winston-Salem, and was the daughter of Walter and Ethel Spaugh.
After the untimely deaths of her parents, she lived at The Children's Home, Inc. with two of her brothers until she graduated from Reynolds High School. Martha Ann then worked in the downtown office of Davis Department Store and after raising her two children moved to the Thruway Shopping Center location. She later worked as a sales associate for Klein's and Stein Mart, from which she retired due to failing health in December 2014. Martha Ann was a doting mother and kind woman who loved her Carolina Panthers, Duke Blue Devils and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Martha Ann is survived by her children, Wesley Isley of Greensboro and Karen Lemons of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Linzy Lemons and her fiancé Chase Shaffer of Winston-Salem, and Cade Lemons of Kernersville; brother, Arthur Spaugh of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Dale Spaugh of Midway; brother-in-law, Earl Evans of Clemmons; many beloved nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Peggy Bullock and many other co-workers at Stein Mart.
The family will receive guests at Friedberg Moravian Church, Friday, January 23, at 2pm in the parlor, followed by a memorial service at 3pm in the sanctuary and a graveside committal service with the Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. and the Rev. Daniel K. Nelson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
