Mrs. Martha Butcher Ebert passed away Friday night March 15, 2013 at Alston Brook Nursing Home. She was born in Surry County on March 13, 1922 to the late John Pleas and Flossie Wagoner Butcher. Martha was a member at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church and member of Women's Circle number 4. She was past president and treasurer of Emma Spaugh Bible Class. Martha was a regular visitor to shut-ins and nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Paul Ebert; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Ronnie Hutchins. Martha is survived by three children Barbara E. Sink (Jimmy) of Lexington, NC, Larry Ebert (Annie) of Crossville, TN, and David Ebert (Tracey) of Mebane, NC; seven grandchildren Tim Sink (Vicki), Joe Hutchins, Paula Dugger, Larry Ebert, Jr. (Jessica), Caroline Ebert, Cassie Ebert, and Chase Ebert; six great-grandchildren Brandon Hopper, Jonathan Huckeby, Laci Sink, Abigail Ebert, Gavin Ebert, and Preston Ebert; a sister Dorothy Watson; and a brother Bill Butcher. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John Rights, and Rev. Norwood Green officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Alston Brook Nursing Home of Lexington for their loving care towards Martha Ebert.
