Mrs. Martha Smith Duggins, 87, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on September 2, 1934, the second of nine children to Herman and Lucille Meadows Smith.  Martha was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, mawmaw, sister, friend and Christian. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she started teaching Sunday School at the age of 15, was a member of the choir, Director and President of the WMU for many years. She was also in charge of organizing food groups to provide meals to families who had experienced a death in their families. Martha took great pride in her involvement in her church and community and will always be remembered for her fried apple pies. Outside of her family, church and community, she worked for Stokes County Schools and retired with 21 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth W. Duggins; her son, Stephen K. Duggins; three brothers, James, John, and Joe Smith; a sister, Minnie Ruth Lynch; and a son-in-law, Michael Hall. Mrs. Duggins is survived by two daughters, Deborah Hall and Mary Ruth Mabe (Tim); two sons, Dwight Duggins (Rhonda) and Chris Duggins (Shannon); her grandchildren, April H. Robertson (Steven), Chad A. Hall (Stephanie), Cody Duggins (Taylor), Lenzie and Madison Mabe, Brandon, Allyssa, and Ryder Duggins and Ashley D. Boles (Zeke); her great-grandchildren, Colby and Abby Robertson, Riley and Hadley Hall and Tucker Duggins; three sisters, Mary Edith Robertson (Dean), Judy Kinney (Mike) and Sarah Boyles (Dale); one brother, David Smith (Gloria); two sister-in-laws, Odessa Hamm (Ted) and Tilda Duggins; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in King with Rev. Randy Roberts, Rev. Ted Goslen and Rev. Bryan Gough officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staffs of Priddy Manor Assisted Living and Trellis Supportive Care for all of their loving care and support. They would also like to thank Dr. Joshua Trinidad and his staff. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to: Mt. Olive Baptist Church Building Fund, Trellis Supportive Care or to the N.C. Baptist Children’s Home.
