Mr. Marshall Freeman Shoaf, 82 of Winston Salem passed away Saturday October 25, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 3, 1926 in Forsyth County to William Franklin Shoaf, Sr. and Eva Irene Fulk Shoaf.. He served in the United States Navy during WW II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was retired from Davco Corp., formerly Devlin Supply Co.. He was a member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church and previously a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Jr., Richard and Charles Shoaf. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Hilda Stonestreet, two children Lynn Roberts and husband Billy of Winston-Salem and Keith Shoaf and wife Tara of Lexington, two granddaughters, Whitney Shoaf and Caroline Roberts and two sisters, Helen Lincoln and Rachel Spainhour of Winston-Salem. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Sherrill and Mr. Shoaf's great nephew Rev. Blake Hooks officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park with military honors provided by Clemmons Memorial Honor Guard District 11. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church, 430 Weisner Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the donor's choice.
