Marlene Schock Weisz

Marlene was born at Lehr North Dakota on December 9, 1934. She met her husband Leo there, who was a member of the U.S. Air Force, in May 1953. They married at Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City South Dakota, on August 2nd of that year and relocated seven times during Leo's 23-year Air Force Career. The numerous moves frequently required that Marlene take care of the family alone while he was on temporary duty elsewhere or on an isolated assignment overseas.

In 1969 they moved to Langley AFB Virginia where Leo retired from the air Force and accepted employment with Sears. Marlene continued as a homemaker and accepted employment as assistant manager of the catalog department at Montgomery Ward.

Marlene joined the Presbyterian church at Merced California in 1960 and served in numerous capacities including Deacon, Circle Chairman, and moderator for women of the church. She loved Reading, gardening and taking care of the family. They did extensive traveling during the next 20 years while living in Viginia, both within the US and overseas. She joined the Knollwood Meadows Garden Club where at various times she served as vice president, treasurer and social chairman. She very much missed her family who lived in Winston Salem North Carolina (600 miles round trip) and moved there in 2014 so she could more frequently enjoy their love and companionship.

She was a devoted volunteer and donated her time as cashier at the Yorktown Bargain Box for many years. She also volunteered for two years at Project Hope in Winston Salem N.C.

Marlene was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband Leo, son Randal, Daughter-in-law Patricia, granddaughters

A private graveside service will be held for the family.
