Mark Huntington Witmer, Sr.

Mr. Mark Huntington Witmer, Sr. passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Swathmore, PA on November 30, 1941 the son of the late Nancy Jean Rice Witmer and Francis Lewis Witmer. Mr. Witmer proudly served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He retired from the Navy in 1980 with 20 years of service and later retired from Service Master in 2001 also with 20 years of service. He was a hard worker and never gave up on anything. He loved antique cars and watching movies. Mr. Witmer was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Witmer is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty Witmer; four children: Lisa Hedgecock, Cynthia Rayburn, Mark Witmer Jr., and Elizabeth Driver; six grandchildren: Sara, Christina, Josh, Haley, T.J., and Jacob; one great-grandchild, Talon; and also two brothers, Steve and Tony Witmer.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 24 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Kevin Broyhill officiating. Burial will follow at Pinnacle Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 23 at the funeral home.
