Mark Wayne Temple

TEMPLE - WINSTON-SALEM Mark Wayne Temple, age 61, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born October 16, 1949 in Forsyth County. As a child, Mark attended Oak Summit United Methodist Church with his grandfather. Later as a teen, Mark and his family became members at Bethabara Moravian Church. Mark graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1967. Mark was an avid Nascar Fan and pulled for the Fords. His favorite movies were The Ten Commandments and Titanic. Mark's passion in life was to help the less fortunate and especially his friend, John. Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents who helped raise him, Sallie Christine Brewer and Paul Clifton Brewer; and also aunt, Iris Smith. Surviving are his parents, Dorothy Brewer Jodrey and Fred Jodrey; brother, Cris Jodrey; sister, April Baxter (Jim); devoted canine companion, Bear; aunts, Ruth Clayton (Emmit), Margie Fishel (Ben) and Ludie Blakley; and also numerous cousins. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 7 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Bob Parvin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 6 at the funeral home. There will be a private burial at Oak Summit United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Summit United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 732 Oak Summit Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or the Derrick Davis Cancer Center, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Mark's Hospice Nurse, Angela, who knelt by his bedside, held his hand and sang ‘What A Day That Will Be.'
