Mark Ray Johnson, Sr.

Mark Ray Johnson, Sr., 48, of East Bend passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his home. He was born August 30, 1962 in Forsyth County to Delmar Ray and Treva Johnson. Mark was a graduate of West Forsyth High School in 1981. He was employed with Winn-Dixie for 28 years and was with the Lewisville Fire Department for 20 years. He also was a volunteer at Forbush Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Mark was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Charles Franklin and Clara Johnson, who taught me about the Lord and gave me the fundamentals to be the man I am and Roy Mabe and Gladys Brown; his father-in-law, Allen Ray Hoots, who gave me the strength to fight on when he was at the end of his cancer battle. I Love You Pops. Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Jane Hoots Johnson of the home; his children, Charles Franklin Johnson of Clemmons, Mark Ray Johnson, Jr., Katlyn Johnson, and John William Johnson, all of the home; his parents of Welcome; a brother, Anthony Johnson (Sharon) of Lexington; a sister, Melissa Sowers (Jeff) of Lexington; his mother-in-law, Elsie B. Hoots of East Bend; a brother-in-law, John Allen Hoots of East Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10th at Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 9th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to his children.
