Marjorie Holley Wood

WOOD
On Good Friday Mrs. Marjorie Holley Wood was released by her Lord from the pain of this world and brought to the place he had prepared for her. She was born December 18, 1927 in Johnston County, the daughter of the late, John R. and Lettie Smith Holley. Mrs. Wood was a member of Union Ridge United Methodist Church since 1955 where she was a devoted and loyal member, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School as well as serving in many aspects of the church until declining health last year. She was a trustee of the Carolina Teamsters Retires and a member of the Alliance of Retired Americans but was most importantly a loving wife and mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Edward who Marjorie said was the love of her life from the first time she saw him getting on the school bus going to Boone Trail High School; one daughter, Marjorie Ann Wood Patterson and husband, Jack of Clemmons; one son, Gerald Lee Wood of Winston-Salem two sisters, Elva Gray Leaird and Erma Lee Mason of Harnett County; and extended family and friends too numerous to mention. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Union Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Ridge United Methodist Church, 3620 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. A special thanks to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center who provided loving care.
