Marjorie Bodenhamer Turner, lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, went home to her Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. She was born on October 21, 1926 to the late David Carlton and Hattie Frith Bodenhamer. She graduated from Hanes High School. Mrs. Turner was an active member of College Park Baptist Church where she taught Adult Sunday School. As a faithful and inspiring leader in the Baptist Women's Missionary Union, she served as the WMU Director for the Pilot Mountain Association as well as Director at Bethany Baptist Church. She led several mission groups at Bethany and College Park Baptist. Mrs. Turner served for more than twenty-five years as a volunteer at the Pilot Mountain Association Office and over twenty years at Crisis Control Center, where she used her administrative skills to help others. Above all, she was a dedicated wife of more than 60 years to the late Charlie Frank Turner and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She lived each day as a prayer warrior and in obedience to her Lord. She is survived by two sons, Dennis F. Turner (Gail) of Calabash, NC and Robert C. Turner (Vickie) of the home; grandchildren, Lauren Hoolehan (Ed) of Hudson, NC, Jennifer Carrison of Little River, SC, Rob Turner of Greensboro, NC, and Maria Turner of the home; great grandchildren, Emma Hoolehan, Ethan Carrison and T.J. Hoolehan; brother, David L. Bodenhamer (Peggy) of Atlanta; and sister-in-law, Bertha L. Turner of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem with the Rev. Ramon Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 1701 Polo Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family would like to express appreciation to ER Nurse Mark, Palliative Care Nurses Holli and T.J., and family friend, Dr. Steve Stinson for their loving care of Mom during her final days.
