Marjorie McMillan Baker Aberson

Mrs. Marjorie McMillan Baker Aberson, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully April 13, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a lengthy illness. She was born December 1, 1923 in Sparta, N.C. to Add and Bessie McMillan. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde W. Baker in 1980 and her second husband, Col. Albert D. Aberson in 2006. She was also predeceased by her brother, Wade McMillan and her sister, Shirley M. Koehler. Her family, gardening, traveling and sewing gave her great pleasure. She was an avid rose enthusiast and will be remembered for the beautiful roses she grew and shared with others. She was a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church and a member of the Fellowship Bible Class. She was a member of the Piedmont Club and Bermuda Run Country Club. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn B. Weston (Tom) of Sarasota, FL. and Cathe B. Hege (Ed) of Bermuda Run, NC; four grandchildren, Thomas Weston, Jr., of Atlanta, GA., Wesley B. Weston of Albany, Calif., Will Hege (Leslie) of Clemmons, NC and Erin Hege of Bermuda Run, NC; two great grandchildren, Anna and Jack Hege of Clemmons; and special friends, Lewis and Jean Winters. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A private graveside service in Sparta will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 3542 Robinhood Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
