Marion Harrison Russell

WINSTON-SALEM-Mrs. Marion Harrison Russell, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Russell was born on July 22, 1934 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Herman Hoyle Harrison and Juanita Ridley Harrison. Marion was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she served in many capacities in chapters in Shreveport, Louisiana, Gadsden, Alabama, Gainesville, Florida and Winston-Salem. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane McPherson and Mickey Hill. Mrs. Russell is survived by her husband, John W. Russell of the home; two sons, John H. Russell of Winston-Salem and William K. Russell (Kelly) of King, NC; three granddaughters, Megan E. Russell of Lynchburg, Virginia, Heather Shannon Russell and Kathryn Olivia Russell, both of Winston-Salem; and two sisters, Frances Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Juanita Trouy of Dallas, Texas. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Bret Cogan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A private graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
