Marion Joseph Nowicki, 67, died Thursday November 5, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 8, 1941 in Everson, PA, the son of Marion Frank and Helen Zgorecki Nowicki. A computer systems architect for 24 years, he worked for Lowes Companies in Winston-Salem, having previously worked for Sara Lee Corp. Marion was an eagle scout, a former Catholic priest of the Diocese of Greensburg, PA, a husband, father, and friend. Marion loved God, his family, his co-workers, and his neighbors. His beautiful daughter Kylie was the light of his life. He was a wonderful cook, baker, carpenter, and landscaper. He enjoyed sharing his culinary talents with friends and family. He was a kind and gentle soul who never had an unkind word for anyone. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons for the past 17 years, he was a Catechist and had an outstanding tenor singing voice. A former college professor, he had a Masters Degree in Sacred Theology, and in Education from Loyola University of Chicago. Left to cherish his memory, are his wife of 24 years Cathy Hillenbrand Nowicki formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, his daughter Kylie Nikole, his sisters Janet Nowicki Manzella of Ft. Myers, FL, Rita Nowicki Friend of Round Rock, TX, Carol Nowicki Foljahn of Pflugerville, TX, nieces, nephews, and cousins in Pennsylvania, New York, and Colorado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Kinnamon Road in Clemmons Monday November 9, 2009 at 10:30 am, with Fr. Brian Cook and con-celebrated by Marion's cousin the Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki of St. Vincent Archabbey, Seminary, and College in Latrobe, PA. Friends are welcome to attend the service and the luncheon following the service. Marion will be laid to rest near his parents in his birthplace following a Celebration of Life service in Everson, Pennsylvania. The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Collins, Dr. Fred Reid, Dr. Dave Pollock, Dr. Joel Morgan, Dr. John F. Davis, and the many nurses and medical care workers at Forsyth Medical Center and in the Novant Healthcare system that provided Marion with ongoing wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Marion's name to Forsyth County Senior Services Meals on Wheels program, or to the United Way of High Point.
