Marion Griffin, Jr.

Mr. Marion Claude Griffin, Jr., 79, of Winston-Salem went to the more immediate presence of the Lord on Monday, April 25, 2022. Marion was born in Union County, NC to the late Marion Griffin Sr. and Jacqueline Hargett Griffin on October 13, 1942. He was a proud Appalachian State Graduate. Marion taught at Parkland High school for over 30 years to show others that are visually impaired that they too can teach in public schools. His love for history and economics didn’t end after retirement. He was a lifelong learner and avid audio book reader. He enjoyed football and college softball games. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Livengood Griffin; son, Jeffrey D. Griffin; daughters, Lorri Griffin Anderson (Andy), Suzanne Griffin Beauchamp (Richard) and Tammie Webster (Gray); grandchildren, Lauren, Taylor, Griffin, Garrett, MacKenzie, Ray, Liam and soon to be making his appearance, Lincoln; brother, Donald Griffin (Debbie). A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 1, 2022, at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with The Rt. Rev. Sam Gray and Rev. David Marcus officiating. Committal will follow at the church graveyard following the service. In lieu of flowers please send donations to New Philadelphia Moravian Church 4440 Country Club Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM.
