Mr. Marinus Hillegaart, 84, of Clemmons passed away quietly at his home Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was born April 9, 1928 in Amsterdam, Holland to John Albertus and Jacoba Theodora Vandekamp Hillegaart. Dutch immigrated to the United States to follow the American dream at the age of 19, where he lived a life of personal wealth and prosperity. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Siena Hemmen and Bertha Kramer and by 2 brothers, William Hillegaart and Jon Hillegaart. Surviving are 3 children, John Marinus Hillegaart of Lewisville, Ronald Alan Hillegaart of Loveland, CO. and Debra Hillegaart Raper (David) of Clemmons; 4 grandchildren, Tabitha Raper Tapscott, Melissa Raper Davis, Joseph John Hillegaart and Daniel Jack Hillegart; 4 great grandchildren, Mattyson Bailey Tapscott, William Taylor Tapscott, Meritt Grayce Davis and Jayden Olivia Hillegaart; and his dog, Millie. The family will receive friends at his daughters home in Clemmons on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. He was loved and will be missed as a father, as Opa and as a fishing buddy.
