Ms. Marinda Thompson Winfrey Long, age 77 of Winston-Salem, NC passed away August 28, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born March 18, 1937 in West Virginia to the late Luther and Helen Thompson. Ms. Long worked in food services for both the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and the Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community. She also attend senior lunch through Senior Services where she also helped prepare the meals. She is preceded in death by her first husband Carl T. Winfrey and two brothers Eugene and Roger Thompson. Surviving are three daughters Connie Long (Jim), Cheryl Sorensen (Art) and Carla Rymal (Richard); seven grandchildren, Erica and Andrew Sorensen, Jessica Stewart, Meredith Morrissey (Fiancé - Norman Ellis), Kristina Rymal, Mandy Blalock (Preston) and Aaron Long (Susan); two special great grandchildren that visited her during her last illness, Gavin Ellis and Christian Morrissey; three other great grandchildren, Dustin Long, Emma Long, and Mason Beshears; a brother Richard Thompson (Sharon) and her only sister Gaynell Englebert. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. There will be a private family service at a later date. Memorials may be made to Kate B.
