MariLynn Karien (Fleming) Brown

With great love in our hearts, we announce the passing of MariLynn Karien (Fleming) Brown on January 26, 2025. She courageously battled with glioblastoma (brain cancer) for an extended time. She died peacefully at her home with her family around her. She was a resident of Lewisville, North Carolina. She was 47 years old. MariLynn was born on June 28, 1977, to Douglas Dean and Mari Lynn (Young) Fleming on Ft. Polk, Vernon County, Louisiana. She grew up in a military family with her brothers Damon, Daniel, and Michael. Mari Lynn was raised with her family wherever the United States Army stationed her dad. She lived in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, Berlin Germany, Ft. Knox Kentucky, Bad Kreuznach, Germany, Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, Ft. Bliss, Texas, and Ft. Lewis, Washington. Upon her father’s military retirement, MariLynn lived in Portage, Michigan with her family until she graduated from Portage Northern High School. She continued her education and achieved her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Winston-Salem State University. As a nurse she worked diligently at Forsyth Medical Center in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) for some time. MariLynn valued her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her parents and siblings. From a very early age, she had a special testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was baptized at 8 years old, in the Kaiserslautern Germany Stake by her father, Douglas Dean Fleming. She lovingly served in many callings in the church with the youth and children. She had a special gift of sharing her testimony of Jesus Christ through word, actions, and her musical talents of voice, piano, and viola. At a church function she met her future husband. A return missionary! On December 21, 1996, MariLynn was married and sealed to her devoted husband Ryan Troy Brown in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. MariLynn and Ryan enjoyed 28 years of marriage and had seven beautiful children: Sine (26), Gideon (22), Amaron (21), Zerin (18), Aisling (deceased on April 11, 2008), Jacom (15), and Jarom (12). Her husband and children are her greatest treasure. She was gifted with infinite compassion and love for her husband, children, family, and friends but her most cherished love was for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Recently, she spoke with her best words, “I think of Jesus Christ every day and I can do all things with Christ.” She truly demonstrated this all through her illness and her life. MariLynn leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Doug and Mari Fleming and her three brothers: Damon, Daniel (Michelle and children), and Michael (Micheal). In addition, many family members of the Fleming and Bassage, Stevens and Young families. She affectionately leaves cherished family members from her husband’s family, namely: Phillip and Judy Brown. In addition, Ryan’s siblings: Ian (Diane and children), Angela (Trent and children), Dustin (Lauren and children), and Kyle (Holly and children). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4260 Clinard Rd. Clemmons, NC 27012.
