Marilyn Jean Morris (nee Boston), 73, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in Winston-Salem. Jean was born October 7, 1935 in Hancock County Illinois to Ray and Viola Boston. Mrs. Morris was a graduate of Nauvoo High School where she won the Illinois state vocal competition four years consecutively. She graduated from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri where she received a bachelor of music degree with a major in music education. She received the Barrett award in voice her junior year and the Humphreys Music award and the Graves Music Cup her senior year. Mrs. Morris continued singing throughout her life including the choir at Trinity Moravian Church. Mrs. Morris was dedicated elementary school educator. Surviving are her son, Phillip Eric Morris and wife Lynne Summer Morris and their two children, Eric and Lauren of Cincinnati, Ohio; five brothers and sisters of Illinois and California. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with a reception following the service.
