Marilyn Miller

Marilyn Miller, the last surviving child of Clyde Clifton Miller and Mamie Louella Jackson Miller, died peacefully at a Winston-Salem hospital just after 10 a.m. on (Good) Friday, April 6, 2012. She was 85. Marilyn had suffered a stroke a few days beforehand. Her nephew and niece, David Edwards and Dee Ann Edwards, who had been her loving caretakers for many years, were at her bedside in her final days and were able to communicate with her and comfort her. Marilyn was the kid sister of William Alton 'Brother' Miller and Arline 'Cissie' Miller Edwards. Her life had many happy moments and some rough ones as she faced illness, loss and loneliness, but she maintained her beauty, gracious manners and intense love of family till the end. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Norma Martin Cashion, Brother and Cissie and their spouses; and a niece, Terri Lynn Cashion Jeter. In addition to Dee Ann and David and his wife, Addy Anne, Marilyn is survived by nieces Pamela Miller of Robbinsdale, Minn., and her son, Noah Johnson, of Minneapolis; nephew Chris Miller and his wife, Mary, and children Zachary, Moriah, Hannah, Elizabeth and Avamarie of Centerville, Minn., and niece Mary Catherine Miller Northrup and her husband, Michael, of Rio Verde, Ariz., and by nephew-in-law Al Jeter and his wife, Anne, and Al's daughters, Elizabeth, Emily and Amanda. She is also survived by several cousins, including Virginia Harris and her husband Everette of Winston-Salem. Marilyn will be laid to rest next to her parents at Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem, N.C. Rest in peace, Marilyn.
