Marie Higgins Westmoreland

Ms. Josephine Marie Higgins Westmoreland, 81, of Clemmons passed away Wednesday, February 09, 2011 at Springwood Care. She was born June 1, 1929 in Yadkin County to Burette and Cleo Trivette Higgins. Ms. Westmoreland was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and attended Center Grove Baptist Church. She retired from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department and enjoyed gardening and playing her piano. Her parents and her step-father, Fred Crater preceded her in death. Surviving is her daughter, Cheryl Mitchell Reeder and husband Daniel Elliott of Clemmons; a granddaughter, Shannon Elizabeth Reeder; two half sisters, Betty Masten and husband L.D. of Winston-Salem and Linda Campbell of Huntersville and a half brother, Larry Crater and wife Sylvia of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Dr. Ken Bradstock, Chaplain Hospice and Palliative Care Center officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
