Marie Tucker Wall

Marie Tucker Wall, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Springwood Care Center where she had been a resident for several years. She was born October 14, 1930 in Surry County to Drucilla Simmons Tucker and Thomas Elmer Tucker. Mrs. Wall was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Stanleyville. She grew up in Pilot Mountain where she met and married ""the 67 year-love of her life"" James McCoy (Mac) Wall. Mac is currently living at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living in Arcadia. Surviving are a daughter, Tina Wall Compton, and husband, Russell D. Compton; granddaughters Megan Elizabeth Compton and Haley Nicole Compton; Marie's sister, Annie Tucker Whapham (surviving spouse of Kenneth Charles Whapham) and nephews Kenneth Clay Whapham, and Philip Charles Whapham and families, as well as her brother, Roy Thomas Tucker, and wife, Nancy Hendrix Tucker, and nephew Torrey Thomas Tucker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 16 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. G. Thomas Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church Choir, 2178 Friedberg Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
