Marie Lessley Rakes

Mrs. Marie Lessley Rakes, age 86 of Pfafftown passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at River Landing in Sandy Ridge. Mrs. Rakes was born July 15, 1928 in Alabama to Ocie James and Linnie Ethel Sutton Lessley. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, attended Western Carolina University and retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. Mrs. Rakes was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Rakes is survived by her husband, Marvin T. Rakes, Sr. of Pfafftown. One daughter, Ann Rakes of CA and one son, Marvin T. Rakes, Jr and wife Roxanne of FL.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rakes will be conducted Thursday afternoon, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Dr. Suzanne Michael. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
