Marie Rose Parlante, 91, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born November 22, 1919 in the Bronx, New York to John and Mary Celiberti Parlante. She spent most of her earlier years in New Jersey. Ms. Parlante attended Hunter College in New York City and the University of Alabama, Huntsville, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from UAH. She was employed by the Army Corp of Engineers forty plus years before retiring to North Carolina to be near family members. Ms. Parlante was active in the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs where she held several offices. She was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons and a member of the Winston-Salem Woman's Club. She is preceded in death by a brother, Vincent John Parlante. Surviving is a daughter, Tina McLaughlin; four grandchildren, Jason Dameron, Renee Hopkins, Serena Dameron and Kristin Dameron ; two great grandchildren, Mahina and Mehana Dameron; sister-in-law, Katherine M. Parlante; nephews, John Ward Parlante, James Vincent Parlante and Joseph Ray Parlante, and nieces Patricia K. Hise, with son Joshua, and Vanessa Horan with husband Tim and son Matthew. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Michael Buttner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
