Marie Marshall

WALKERTOWN – Marie Mabe Marshall, 97, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 at her home. Marie was born on April 28, 1924 in Stokes County to the late Drew and Lonie Mabe. Marie retired from RJ Reynolds after 14 years of service and was a member of Oak Grove Moravian Church. She loved to quilt, garden and make ceramics.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam Peddycord, Allen Jones, and Melvin “Bus” Marshall; a son, Ronnie Peddycord; stepsons, Steve Jones and Jimmy Jones; a granddaughter, Tina May; a great grandson, Austin May; and five brothers, Guindolyn, Cletus, Denson, J.T. and Allen.

Surviving are her sons, Gerald Peddycord, and Terry Peddycord (Helen); grandchildren, Gwenda Hooker (David), Angie May (Mike), Gerry Peddycord, Sammy Peddycord (Addie), and Stephanie Jones Kissinger (Curtis); 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Oak Grove Moravian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Austin May Scholarship Fund, c/o Oak Grove Moravian Church, 120 Hammock Farm Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.

The family extends a special ‘Thank You’ to the nurses at MediHome Health Agency, Jean Cain and Misty Dawson, for their care and compassion for Marie.
