Marie Downing Lefler

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Mrs. Marie Downing Lefler, 81, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Marie was born on May 14, 1934 in Antigua and Barbuda, West Indies. Her joy in life was to be a mother and homemaker. She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed taking care of her family and being the ""neighborhood mom"". Later she lavished time and love on her grandsons. Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin ""Bud"" Lefler and her daughter Linda Hyatt. She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Jones and husband Gary; one son, Michael Lefler; and two grandsons, Alex and Andrew Jones. Also surviving are her beloved nieces; Angela deGannes, Patricia Heath, Gloria Shortridge and Valerie Jeffery, all of Antigua. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Bob McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers she requested that donations be made to a charity of your choosing.
