Marie T. Brown

Marie T. Brown, 89, passed away Saturday morning, March 13, 2010 at The Oaks at Forsyth after an extended period of illness. She was born February 20, 1921, in Stokes County to Delcarpio and Della Taylor. She was the loving wife of the late Walter A. Brown, and loving Mom to daughter Jean Wells and her husband, Tim Lawrence, and her deceased son, Chuck Brown. She adored her grandchildren: Scott Pruitt, Marc Pruitt and his wife Gina, Walter Pruitt, the late Stacie Heller and her husband Rick, and daughter-in-law, Glenda Brown. She had four great grandchildren: Alayna, Gillian, and Gabriella Pruitt, and Ashyln Heller. When Mrs. Brown was younger she spent many volunteer hours with both the Girls Scouts and the Boy Scouts, and enjoyed activities with these two groups for many years. In later years, she enjoyed working as a volunteer with the Winston-Salem Oasis Shriner's organization. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and is survived by sisters, Doris Nicklas of Greensboro, Ann Jeffords and husband Richard of Lewisville, Betty Gallaher of Jamestown, and Bobby Taylor and wife Peggy of Raleigh, and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, March 15, 2010 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Ralph Sproles, minister officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family wishes to thank Station 1 at The Oaks for their kindness, loving thoughts and prayers, hugs and kisses to my Mom each day while she was a resident there. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oasis Shriners, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262-8410.
