Marie Boyd

Mrs. Marie Vada Gilley Boyd, 94, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home. She was born May 10, 1923 in Ashe County to the late Roby Gilley and Margaret Ann Denny Gilley. Mrs. Boyd was the glue of her family and remained the matriarch until God called her home. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husband, Murry Lee Boyd; one daughter, Phyllis Boyd Cecil; and five siblings. She is survived by three children: Betty Boyd Turner (Billy) of Tobaccoville, Allen Lee Boyd (Patty) of Tobaccoville, and Margaret Boyd Cecile (Danny) of Boone; eight grandchildren: Barbie McKinney, Sue Berrier, Lena Roberts, Angie Albani, Brenda Williams, DJ Cecile, Angel Blackburn, and Mandy Cecile; twelve great-grandchilren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, February 17, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 6816 Doral Drive, Tobaccoville, NC 27050 with the Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service.
