Mrs. Marianne DuBois Thompson, 93, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023. She was born in Greensburg, PA on March 21, 1930, to the late Robert Hallam DuBois and Mary Angela Seggerson DuBois. Mrs. Thompson loved her family and enjoyed traveling, especially to Paris since her nickname was “Mademoiselle DuBois,” and New York City. Preceding her in death was her husband, William H. Thompson and a son, Matthew K. Thompson. Surviving are two sons, William R. Thompson, and Mark P. Thompson and his partner, David Chan; grandson, Matthew K. Thompson, Jr., and wife, Lacey Dennis; and two great-granddaughters, Vivian and Ava. Also surviving are her sister, Patricia Clements, her nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thompson left a legacy of many close friends, including Miss Trenae Mitchell of Winston-Salem, who was her ‘angel’ for the last years of her life, and her best buddy, neighbor and fellow adventure-seeker Louie Carque. Mrs. Thompson lived her early years in Jeannette, PA, and moved to Long Beach, CA where she met and married Bill, the love of her life. In Long Beach, she worked for the City’s library system for many years. Marianne and Bill raised their sons in Los Alamitos, CA, then retired to Ogden, Utah. Mrs. Thompson settled in Kinderton Village after the passing of her husband. Everywhere she lived she created a ‘family’ of loved ones who remained close to her. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. James Stuhrenberg officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church reception hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association by visiting www.alz.org.
