Marian Brickhouse Huffman

Mrs. Marian Brickhouse Huffman, 85 of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 24, 1928 in Elizabeth City, NC , the daughter of the late Roscoe and Alma Jordan Brickhouse. She retired as a registered nurse from Medical Park Hospital where she worked in the operating room in the Cystoscopic Room. She was a long time member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She served on various committees and was an ordained deacon. She was a volunteer at the Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Charles S. Huffman, Jr. Surviving are her children, David Charles Huffman, Lori Lea Huffman-Rice and husband, Roger Rice and Bruce Preston and wife, Cathy Huffman; five grandchildren, Wesley and Ashley Rice, Blair and Brian Huffman and Christopher Rike; and one great grandchild, Emma. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel Sunday at 2:00 PM with Dr. Gus Thomas and Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Marian requested no flowers. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 5460 Skylark Drive, Pfafftown NC 27040 or to The Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center, c/o Simstein Fund, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
