Margie Weavil Manuel

WINSTON-SALEM-Margie Weavil Manuel, 90, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 31, 1924 in Forsyth Co. to the late John Madison and Bessie Hayworth Weavil. When Margie was 2 years old, her mother died and her grandmother, Crissie Cordelia Weavil and her father raised her. Margie graduated Valedictorian from Sedge Garden School class of 1941. Her father wouldn't give her the money to buy her class ring; her special uncle, Will gave her the money for her ring and she was forever grateful. Margie was a member of Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church where she married Kenneth Coman Manuel on March 31, 1956, the service was performed by Bernie Leonard. They were married for 56 wonderful years. In addition to her grandmother, parents and husband she was preceded in death by her, grandfather, Lewis Weavil; brother, Richard Weavil, special uncle, Will (Phoebe) Weavil; two special friends, Barbara Dean and Evy Leonard Gray. Surviving are her son, Gregg Coman Manuel of the home; sister in-law, Elizabeth Weavil; niece, Susan (Michael) Lester; nephew, Nathan (Joanne) Weavil; two very special friends, Ruby Hester Newsome and Carolyn Robinson. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Hogan, Elder E.W. Hooven, and Elder Wayne Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
